March Music Days in Rouse by the Danube

Day 1. Arrival

Arrival at Sofia Airport. You will be welcomed by a professional tour guide. Sightseeing tour of Sofia - see the St. Alexander Nevski Cathedral, the Church of St. Sofia, the Russian Church of St. Nicolas, the 4th century Rotunda of St. George and a part of the remainders of the old Roman settlement. A visit to the valuable icon exhibition in the crypt of the Cathedral. Dinner and overnight in Sofia.

Day 2. Pleven - Panorama, Rousse

After breakfast departure to the town of Rousse. En route a visit to the Panorama of Pleven -the panorama is counted among the 33 largest panoramas of the world. Impressive huge mural paintings represent the decisive moments and battles of the Russian-Turkish war for the liberation of Bulgaria. Lunch in Pleven and continue to Rousse. Overnight in Rousse.

In the evening: concert/opera as per Festival Programme

Day 3. Rousse, Ivanovo Rock Monastery, boat trip on the Danube

A walk through Rousse downtown - see beautiful archtitecture influenced by the Western European architecture from the mid of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century. A visit to the Holy Trinity Church and to the Regional Museum of History. A boat trip (ca. 1 h, including glass of wine) on the Danube. Leave the city to visit the Ivanovo Rock Monastery complex (World Heritage Site). Overnight in Rousse.

In the evening: concert/opera as per Festival Programme

Day 4. Veliko Turnovo & vicinity

Departure to the old royal capital of Veliko Turnovo. En route stop to see the picturesque Preobrazhenski Monastery. A visit to the Medieval fortress of Tsarevets with the relics of the former king’s palace and the reconstructed Patriarchal Church. A walk of the old town of Turnov, see the old cobbled streets of crafts. Enjoy a wine tasting in the nearby wine cellar of Lyaskovets. Follow the route to see to the old museum town of Arbanassi - a monument of Bulgarian architecture from the 17th-18th century. A visit to the Nativity Church and the ethnographic house of Konstantsaliev. Overnight in Veliko Turnovo.

In the evening: farewell dinner in a traditional restaurant accompanied by folklore programme

Day 5. A day at leisure in Sofia

Transfer to Sofia. A day to discover Sofia and the vicinity on your own or take one of our optional day tours and packages. Overnight in Sofia.

Day 6. Departure

Transfer to Sofia airport.
